DIXON — Donna Nelson, 74, Dixon, died March 25, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.
Visitation was March 29 at United Presbyterian Church, Laurel,
Services were March 30 at United Presbyterian Church, Laurel, with Rev. Rachelle McCalla officiating.
Interment was in the Concord Cemetery, Concord.

Honorary pallbearers were Donna’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Monty Mason, Kevin Gothier, Chip Young, Craig Bathke, Jeff Grone, Kevin Garvin and Richard Ebmeier.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Home, Laurel.
Donna Rae Goodman Nelson was born Feb. 16, 1937, to Delbur and Opal (Stewart) Goodman, in Tekamah. She grew up in the Craig area, graduating from Craig High School in 1954, and attended Wayne State College for two years. She met the love of her life, Marvin K. Nelson, after watching him play basketball in the Dixon High School gymnasium. They married June 2, 1957, at the Methodist Church, Craig. Donna worked several years as an insurance agent for State National Insurance, Wayne, until her retirement in the early 1990s.
Donna was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Laurel. She was a founding member of the Dixon First Responders, and served the community as an EMT for several years. Donna enjoyed reading, crocheting, word puzzles, bird watching and her flower garden, especially her roses. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her husband and best friend of 53 years, Marvin; sons, Duane and wife, Kim Nelson, and Jeff Nelson, all of Dixon; daughters and spouses, Monica and Mark Ebmeier, Laurel, and Debbi and Troy Dimmitt, Phillips; eight grandchildren, Amanda and husband, Ben Newton; Nicole Nelson; Elizabeth, Daniel and Rachel Ebmeier; Michael Nelson; and T. J. Dimmitt; three step grandchildren, Jason (Patricia) Inman, Paul (Billie) Inman and Kristi (Edd) Jeffs; three great-grandchildren, Landon Newton, Mitchal and Makenna Dimmitt; and 10 step great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Merlyn (Eleanor) Nelson, Jackson; and sister-in-law, Muriel (Milo) Johnson, Laurel; nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and a host of friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and an infant grandson, Mitchell Dimmitt.
