Obituary – Donald Kardell

WISNER — Donald Kardell, 81, Wisner, formerly of Laurel, died Nov. 17, 2011, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk.
Visitation was Nov. 21 at United Presbyterian Church, Laurel.
Funeral services were Nov. 22 at United Presbyterian Church, Laurel, with Rev. Charity Potter officiating.
Pallbearers were Keith Knudsen, John Knudsen, Kyle Knudsen, Ron Stone, Rick Arduser and Kevin Krei.
Interment was in the Laurel Cemetery, Laurel.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Home, Laurel.

Donald Kenley Kardell was born March 10, 1930, at Laurel, to Charles and Mabel (Peterson) Kardell. He was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church, Concord.  He graduated from Concord High School in 1947. Donald married Maxine Winquist June 6, 1954, at the United Presbyterian Church, Laurel. The couple farmed near Laurel and Donald was a Federal Crop Adjuster in Northeast Nebraska. They moved to Wisner in 1988 where Donald was a rural mail carrier.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Laurel.
Donald enjoyed time outdoors and caring for animals, especially his pet dogs, Casey and Kelsey.
Donald is survived by one daughter, Janeen Dickes and special friend, Kirt Cunningham, Laurel; one son and wife, Gordon and Cindy Kardell, Norfolk; three grandchildren, Kimberly and husband Eric Knickrehm; Tyler Dickes; and Jennifer Kardell; brothers, Keith Kardell and Kendall Kardell, both of Bellevue; sister, Genevieve Knittel, Gregory, S.D., and brother-in-law Gerald Hart, Bloomfield; nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Maxine; Sept. 30, 2011; an infant daughter, Sandra; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Clayton and Margie Kardell, and Margaret Knudsen; sister, Elinor Hart; and brother-in-law Albert Knittel.
