Obituary – Cecelia McGregor

HARTINGTON — Cecelia McGregor, 97, Hartington, died July 25, 2008, at the Golden Living Center, Hartington.
Visitation, with a rosary, vigil service and video tribute, were at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, and continued one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial was July 28 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating.
Burial was in the St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Scott, Todd, Keith, Jim, Bill, Mark, Tom, Steve, Ryan and Ross McGregor, and Craig and Doug Moore.
Honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Patti Promes, Sue Driver, Joan Greder, Kathy Hochstein, Nancy Raszler, Julie Biggs, Kim Dieckmann, Kris Janke, Debbie Moore, Stacy McGregor and Kelsey McGregor.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Ceal was born July 15, 1911, at Hartington, to Baltazaar and Julianna (Opfer) Schwartz. She grew up in the Hartington area and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1929. After graduation, she worked at the Casteel Variety Store which later became the J.C. Nuss Variety Store, Hartington. She was the manager for a year and a half. Ceal and Edward F. McGregor were married Feb. 24, 1936, in Hartington. They farmed in the East Bow Community in Cedar County for 10 years and then moved to the family farm east of Hartington. They moved into Hartington in 1974. Ceal has been a resident of the Golden Living Center since 2004.
Ceal was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Guild, Christian Mothers, Legion of Mary, Ministry of Praise, and had a Perpetual Hour of Adoration for 38 years.
Ceal served on the Site Council and was very active in the Senior Citizen Center. She loved to watch the Chicago Cubs on TV and play cards. She was a great cook and baker and especially enjoyed visiting with her friends and spending time with her family.
Ceal is survived by six children and their spouses, Dean and Geralda McGregor, Hartington; Gary and Shirley McGregor, Hartington; Ellie McGregor, Yankton, S.D.; Elaine and Larry Moore, Fremont; Dave and Carol McGregor, Hartington; Cheri McGregor, Omaha; 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed, March 17, 2000, at the age of 86; a grandson, Steve McGregor; five brothers, and three sisters.
