Obituary – Betty J. Stallbaum

STANTON — Betty J. Stallbaum, 75, Stanton, formerly of Coleridge, died Feb. 7, 2012, at the Stanton Health Center, Stanton.
Visitation and a prayer service were Feb. 9 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge.
Memorial services were Feb. 10 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, with the Rev. Katherine Russell officiating.
Burial of her ashes was at the Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Coleridge.
Pallbearer was Jessie Seifert.
Honorary Pallbearers were Betty’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty Jean Stallbaum was born Nov. 23, 1936, in Coleridge, to Herbert J. and Alma (Mathiason) Brodersen. She grew up in Coleridge and graduated from Coleridge High School. She attended college for two years in Omaha. Betty married Dale J. Stallbaum May 18, 1956, in Coleridge. She and Dale farmed in the Coleridge area until Dale began working for the Ag Company in Pasco, Wash. Betty and Dale lived in Ponca, South Sioux City, Belden and then back to Coleridge. They moved to Norfolk in 1992 and lived there until moving to Stanton in 2001.
Betty was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge. She loved to crochet, play dominoes, bingo, puzzles and gardening.
Betty is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Stanley Stallbaum and Peg Benks, Emerson; Jo and Mike Geneski, Osmond; Warren and Lisa Stallbaum, David City; Penny and Keith Koehler, Center; Sandy and Dan Goeken, Norfolk; Kelley and Tiffany Stallbaum, Emerson; and Kent and Elaine Stallbaum, Stanton; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene and wife, Lana Brodersen, Hooper; and sister-in-law, Kathy Brodersen, Yankton, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale, Dec. 3, 2006; two grandchildren, Tony Hilliges and Whitney Stallbaum; and brother, Kenny Brodersen.
