Obituary — Della Hallman

LINCOLN — Della Hallman, 86, Lincoln, formerly of Page, died Aug. 3, 2008, at the Monarch Hospice House, Lincoln.
Visitation was held Aug. 6 at Biglins Mortuary, O’Neill.
Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the United Methodist Church, Page, with burial in the Page cemetery. Rev. Costa de Olivera and Rev. Michael McMurtry officiated.
Della was born Nov. 26, 1921, at Pierce, to John and Ella (Nelson) Zumbrum.

In March 1927, she moved to a farm near Page with her parents. She attended grade school at District #55 and graduated from Page High School with the Class of 1939. Following graduation, Della attended Norfolk Business College. In February 1942, she went to Washington, D.C., and worked for the Maritime Commission. Della married Harrison Hallman June 2, 1946, at Penns Grove, N.J. They moved to Page in 1946 and lived on their farm until September 2001. Illnesses caused them to move to Lincoln and the last five years Della lived at the Windcrest Assisted Living Community, Lincoln.
Della was a devoted mother and loved her family very much. Her lifetime was filled with working in her garden, especially with her strawberries and raspberries. She liked her flowers, sewing, quilting and always enjoyed music.
She was a member of the Page United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Page Legion Auxiliary and the Lincoln Red Hat Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Perry and her husband, Dude, Page, and Mary Jane Wray and her husband, Jerry, Lincoln; two sons, John Hallman, Omaha, and Bruce and his wife, Gaylene, Coleridge; brother, Delbert Zumbrum, Kansas City, Mo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harrison.
