Lucille died April 12, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society, Bloomfield, with her beloved husband by her side.

Lucille Helen Andreasen, daughter of Andrew and Della (Peregoy) Andreasen was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Fairbury. At a young age, Lucille moved with her family to Bloomfield. She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Fairbury and was confirmed at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield in 1948. Lucille was a proud graduate of Bloomfield High School, graduating in 1947.

While still in high school, Lucille worked at the movie theater with her best friend, Leila. It was during her junior year of high school while walking home from work Lucille met the love of her life, LaVern Kauth.

Lavern and Lucille were married May 6, 1949. They were blessed with four children, Kathy, Debi, Doug and Melissa.

Lucille stayed at home on the farm and was a housewife and mother to her children. In 1969, Lucille became a beauty consultant for Luzier Cosmetics. She was well known for her many facials and doing makeup for many young ladies for prom, and brides for their weddings. She retired from Luzier Cosmetics in January 2018.

Starting in 1970, Lucille worked as a Special Education Aide for the Bloomfield Community Schools for 25 years. During this time she traveled with many of her students to Special Olympics and all of her students had a special place in her heart. Many still stayed in touch with her through the years and she always made time for their visits.

After farming in rural Bloomfield for many years, Lucille and LaVern relocated to Bloomfield in 1980. They remained in their Bloomfield home until moving to the Sunset View Assisted Living in fall 2017. They relocated to the Bloomfield Nursing Home in March 2018.

Lucille was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church and loved to assist with ladies aide, participate in Bible Studies, and work the fair stand for the church. She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary clubs as well as the Bloomfield Red Hatters.

Lucille loved spending time with family, attending grandchildren’s events, and going gambling with her friends. One of her favorite things to do for her family was making Grandma Kauth’s strudels. Often family would come to visit from far away and request strudels and Lucille would happily comply.

She enjoyed playing pranks on friends, making and giving gag gifts and dressing up for any occasion. It was not uncommon to see her dressed up for Halloween and Easter.

Her smile and laugher would always light up the room and it was not uncommon for her to quickly turn a stranger into a friend. Lucille also loved to tell things like they were, she was not known to sugar coat anything. All of these traits made her the woman every one grew to love and appreciate.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Della Andreasen; sister, Janie Andreasen; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Glen Folck; and brother-in-law, Vernon “Bud” Dowty.
