Brandon Gerdes buried at Pierce

PIERCE — Services for Brandon W. Gerdes, 21, of Osmond were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. Vicar Cara Jensen officiated with burial in Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce. Music was provided by organist Kathy Draeger with selections “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Borning Cry” and “Shine, Jesus, Shine.” Pallbearers were Jason Wachter, Scott Wachter, Craig Wachter, Nate Bilau, A. J. Gerdes, Matt Gerdes, Jesse Gerdes, Devin Kumm, Troy Timmerman, Travis Gerdes, Seth Gerdes, Alex Bender and Matt Blunck. Honorary pallbearers were all who were near and dear to Brandon.

Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Stonacek Memorial Chapel of Pierce was in charge of the arrangements.

Brandon died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, in rural Waverly.

The son of Corey and Lisa (Peters) Gerdes was born June 26, 1995, in Norfolk. He was baptized on July 16, 1995, and confirmed on May 23, 2010, at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. He attended Pierce Public Schools, graduating in 2014. He was a junior at the University of Nebraska, majoring in agronomy. Brandon’s church was an important part of his life. Brandon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends listening to country music. He loved hunting, farming the family farm and raising livestock with his family. He kept busy all the time, going to school and working for Tvrdy Farms in Ceresco, Aschoff Brothers Farms in Osmond and Keck Crop Consulting in Plainview. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce, where he taught Sunday School and was in the youth group. He was a member of FFA, FCA and was on the honor roll and principal’s honor roll for four years and in the boys’ letter club for four years. He played on the Pierce High School football and golf teams and band four years and was a member of the University of Nebraska Agronomy Club.

Survivors are his parents, Corey and Lisa Gerdes of Osmond; a brother, Adam Gerdes of Pierce; grandfather LeRoy Gerdes of Osmond; stepgrandmother, Marian Peters of Pierce; aunts and uncles Lanell (Tim) Bilau and Karen (Jim) Wachter of Pierce, Terrie (Scott) Kumm of McLean, Pam (Todd) Timmerman of Plainview, Scott (Kathy) Gerdes of Tea, SD, Steve Gerdes of Omaha and Jeff (Rynda) Gerdes of Stanton and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Elaine Peters and Alice Gerdes.
