Albert Thompson

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Albert Dale Thompson, 77, Fredericksburg, Va., died Aug. 3, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation was Aug. 5, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel.
A service was held Aug. 6 at Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church, Spotsylvania, Va., with the Rev. Alan Hager and Rev. Mike Motsko.
Interment was held Aug. 7 at Quantico National Cemetery, Va.
Albert Dale Thompson was born Aug. 26, 1930, and was raised on a farm near Laurel. He was a 1947 graduate of Laurel High School and later graduated from the University of Nebraska, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural economics. He was an active member of Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church serving as an elder. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Thompson; his children, Robert Dale Thompson and his wife, Lashelle; Patricia L. Smith and her husband, Ronnie; and Linda Marie Benson, all of Fredericksburg, Va.; two brothers, James Thompson and Marvin Thompson, both from Lincoln; three sisters, Dorothy Kvols, Tucumcari, N.M., and Helen Gould, Laurel; and Arlys Withee,, Goodyear, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren, Heather Benson, Scott Benson, Kellie Benson, Kaitlyn Thompson, Emily Thompson, Melissa Thompson, Rachel Thompson and Veronica Smith
