Open house to mark end of 35-year career for Merlyn Kuhl

OSMOND — Nearly 35 years after he opened New Frontier Insurance Agency in his home on north Fulton Street in Osmond, Merlyn Kuhl is retiring. Family, friends and patrons are invited to a retirement open house on Thursday, Aug. 30, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at New Frontier Insurance, 400 North State Street. The business was started after Merlyn, a native of Pierce, had worked for another insurance agency for 3 1/2 years and then decided to go into business for himself. In early 1990, Merlyn moved the business to rented office space in Schmit Grain headquarters on the east edge of town. The office then moved to the Cizek Bank building for almost seven years, then to the former Osmond State Bank building..
