Coleridge throws a welcome party

COLERIDGE - Saturday proved to be a great day to throw a party.

Coleridge and new police chief Matt Monday hosted its Community Day on Saturday in celebration of Monday joining the Coleridge Police Department at the beginning of 2018.

Besides the community, EMTs, firefighters and law enforcement were invited and brought their emergency vehicles out to show off. They were also handing out firefighter hats and bags full of prizes.

The event served hamburgers and hot dogs and also had many outdoor games to entertain the children in attendance.

The most popular game was the dunk tank.

Police chief Monday got a nice welcome as he was the first to be dunked.

Community Club spokesman Jackie Burbach said the goal of this celebration was not only to honor police chief Monday’s arrival in the village but also to get the ball rolling on more community celebrations such as this one.

Burbach also said they hope they can make Community Day an annual event.

Corrections: The event was hosted by the village of Coleridge and new Police Chief Matt Monday. The Community Day is not definite, the village hopes that they will be able to continue you this celebration.
