Splish-splashing on the Fourth!

The 4th of July was a wet one, with 2.86 inches of rain in a short period of time that evening, and a total of about 3.25 by the next morning. Large amounts of water were standing around town, including this “lake” near the softball field on the east side of town, where an unidentified person enjoyed splashing through the water. In the days to follow, the North Fork Elkhorn River overflowed its banks as rainfall to the north made its way down to this area. The forecast for the rest of the week is mixed, with temperatures in the mid- to upper 80s and low 90s, and sunny to partly cloudy most of the week, with a 50% chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.
