Bears maul Tigers for Homecoming win

LAUREL — It was like old times at Haskell Field Friday. The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge Bears built a comfortable first-half lead and pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 52-24 Homecoming win over Osmond Friday at Haskell Field.

The Bears got out to a 24-0 lead in the first half as Izac Reifenrath threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more. Reifenrath got the Bears on the board with a three-yard run on their first possession, then hit Noah Schutte for a 28-yard scoring strike later in the period to make it 12-0. In the second quarter,

Reifenrath called his own number on a 28-yard score, then went to the air for their next touchdown on a sevenyard pass to Ty Erwin. Later in the half, Reifenrath found Schutte a second time on a 37-yard pass to give the Bears a 32-16 halftime advantage. Osmond got within striking distance early in the third quarter after a 65-yard run by Anthony Heiman making it 32-24, but the Bears answered with a trio of short rushing touchdowns by Reifenrath. He scored on runs of three and six yards in the third quarter, then added one last touchdown from seven yards out to close out the Bears’ second straight win of the season.
