City Council approves increase in water, sewer rates
LAUREL — Action was taken during the Laurel City Council meeting on April 9 to increase the water/sewer rates.
Residential and commercial customers in Laurel will be seeing a small increase in water/sewer rates.
Council members waived the second and third readings of the ordinance and passed an ordinance that would increase the monthly base rate for water from $9 to $12 for residential and commercial customers.
The first reading of the ordinance was done during the March meeting. Before action was taken, board members were asked if local residents had made any comments about the ordinance that would increase the rates.
