School Board hires new L-C-C Supt.

LAUREL — Jeremy Christiansen, Fairbury, has been selected to move into the position as the Superintendent of the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School.

School Board members made the offer and Christiansen has verbally accepted the position for the 2018-19 school year. The L-C-C School board members will officially take action on the contract during the school board meeting on Monday evening March 19 according to Supt Randall Klooz.

“Christiansen is a very well respected educational leader in Nebraska,” Klooz said. “Christiansen’s first day as the L-C-C School Supt will be July 1, 2018.”

The L-C-C School board members had interviewed four candidates for the Supt position on Monday and Tuesday evenings. After receiving input from staff members and members of the community the choice was narrowed down to two.

Christiansen began his career in education as a fourth grade teacher in the Omaha Public School system close to 24 years ago. He is currently the Elementary Principal and the Director of Student Services and Elementary Programs in the Fairbury Public School system. Christiansen has strong leadership skills in the areas of communication, strategic planning and community engagement.

Christiansen has been very involved in the Fairbury community and with is church. Christiansen and his wife Sheri have two children. Their daughter Jenna is currently studying medicine at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Their son, Nick is a second year Business and Accounting student at Doane University in Crete.

Christiansen and his wife grew up rural farming and ranching communities in western South Dakota.
