Shannon Trail Promoters make plans

Santee — Fifteen members of the Shannon Trail Promoters were in attendance for the Feb. 1 meeting at the Santee Ohiya Casino.

President, Laurie Larsen announced that Pvt. Shannon carvings will be replaced at Verdel and Creighton in 2017 with the Promoters paying half the cost.

Tourism sponsorships thus far have been received from Bloomfield, Crofton, Verdigre, Winnetoon and the Ponca Tribe.

The date of the Northeast Nebraska Tourism Council meeting is Feb. 13, at Norfolk. The Discovery Travel Guides will be available for pickup.

Marlin and Sharon Braun have a geocaching event, featuring historic facts planned for May. There will be 60 new sites in the Crofton area.

Membership fees, that add business names to the brochures, have been collected in Creighton, Winnetoon, Verdigre and Niobrara. All others must be in by March 8.

Discussion was held on the Dancing for Tourism venture of April 8 at the Bloomfield Pavilion.  Dance classes, cheerleaders and couples are invited to participate.  A silent auction will also be held.

The Promoters will next meet March 8, at Bill’s Place, Wausa.
