Relay for Life will be Friday evening

RANDOLPH — Let’s help “Sock It To Cancer” by attending the American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Randolph, Friday evening, May 30. The event will take place throughout the evening at the Randolph Track on the south edge of town.

The life-changing event gives everyone a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost and fight back against the disease.

The event will run from 6:00 p.m., until midnight, and will be held at the Randolph Track and Field track.

Everyone is invited to a meal (free-will offering) which will be served from 5:00-6:00 p.m.

The event will include a survivor’s lap, caretaker’s lap, and an opening lap where the relay teams walk together to show they “are bigger than cancer”

Individuals from each team take turns walking or jogging around the tract for the remainder of the event.

An opening ceremony, a slide show featuring survivors and loved ones who have passed away, games and activities, and speakers are all part of the evening’s event.

Luminaries will be lit at 10:00 p.m. The bags and candles are dedicated to those who have battled or are currently battling cancer.

“The Cedar County Relay for Life is an awesome event where people from across the whole county come together to fight back against a disease that has already taken too much,” said Jo Kilburn, Randolph, who is helping with the event.

The Cedar County Relay for Life profited more than $40,000 for the American Cancer Society last year according to Kilburn.

“I can’t give enough praise for the Relay for Life,” Kilburn said.

Sandy Kuhlman, 402-337-1183, Dixie Mueting and Clarette Berner are Co-chairs for the Relay for Life in Randolph.
