Tree board to host free tree workshop

OSMOND — Osmond Tree Board will host a free fruit tree pruning workshop at the Osmond Fruit Orchard at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 20 on Tuesday, March 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. This workshop is open to the public with no preregistration necessary.
Pam Bergstrom, forester for the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District (LENRD), and Steve Rasmussen, district forester for the Nebraska Forest Service (NFS), will discuss how to prune fruit trees and shrubs. There will be time at the end of the workshop for a question and answer session with the two foresters. The public is encouraged to bring their questions.
“Osmond Tree Board has wanted to host a fruit tree workshop ever since the Osmond Fruit Orchard went in, and with spring right around the corner, this is a great time to have one,” stated Ms. Bergstrom. “Nebraskans enjoy their yard and park trees as well as their fruit trees. It seems like more and more people are putting in their own private fruit orchard, but don’t know how to take care of those trees in the form of pruning. This workshop is designed to help them learn how to prune fruit trees, and we will also explore a little bit on how to care for those fruit trees as well.”
No registration is required. For questions, contact Pam Bergstrom at (402) 371-7313.
