Tractor drive visits Ronspies farm

Lillian, 18-month-old daughter of LeRoy (left) and Theresa Clausen of Pierce, found the trip from Pierce to the Ronspies farm to be quite tiring

OSMOND — As one of the events during the Pierce Old Time Threshers Bee this past weekend, some 55 to 60 tractors of all colors, sizes and ages made their way from the Pierce County Fairgrounds to the Rod Ronspies farm place four miles east of Osmond on Highway 20. The tractor drive was held on Friday, Sept. 8.
Delwyn Lange of Randolph, who has participated in many of the Pierce County tractor drives, said this is the biggest one he has been on. Bob and Karen Jones of Wakefield agreed, but commented that it was a perfect day for a tractor drive, with temperatures in the low 80s and a light breeze. The Joneses drove a Massey Ferguson tractor, one of the featured tractors this year. There were also two Massey-Harris tractors among the line-up on the Ronspies farm.
After about an hour of visiting and checking out Rod’s collection of vintage tractors, the group headed east on Highway 20, on their way back to the Pierce County Fairgrounds.
