Touching Memorial Day Service held

OSMOND — Once again, Osmond American Legion and its Auxiliary, along with Osmond Community School, presented a touching Memorial Day service. Monday, May 29, was a beautiful, if windy, day, but even that added to the day as the breeze blew the flags on the east lawn of the school, showcasing the red, white and blue.
The program began with the presentation of the Colors and salute to the flag, led by Vice Commander Ed Clayton, followed by the National Anthem sung by the audience and accompanied by the Osmond High School band. Rev. Rodgers Chishiba gave the invocation.
Major Jeffery Hoyt, U.S. Air Force (Retired) was the featured speaker. Hoyt told the audience that, when his mother, Diane Hoyt, had asked him to speak at the program, he realized he needed to do some research on the history of Memorial Day and the American Legion.
