Three more budget hearings on tap

Budget planning continues for political subdivisions in the county. Three entities have scheduled hearings for next week for their 2013-14 budgets.

School District 42R

For its 2013-14 fiscal needs, Osmond School District 42R has a disbursement and transfer total of $5,339,606. Last year, the number was $5,243,974. The total personal and real property tax requirement for non-bond funds is $2,570,707.05. Of that amount, $2,419.191.90 is in the general fund with $50,505.05 in the special building fund and $101,010.10 in the qualified capital purpose undertaking fund. Last year the total was $2,405,050.49 with $232,323.21 in the general fund, $55,555.56 in the special building fund and $117,171.72 in the qualified capital purpose undertaking fund.

The proposed general fund tax rate this year is $0.853725 while last year it was $0.985467. The special building fund proposed tax rate this year is $0.017823 which was $0.024525 last year. The qualified capital purpose undertaking fund proposed rate this year is $0.035646. Last year, it was $0.051726.

The school district budget and levy hearings are scheduled for Monday, Sep. 9, at 8 p.m. in the school media center.

Rural Fire District

The Osmond Rural Fire District has a proposed budget of $202,000 for the 2013-14 year. Last year, the figure was $157,000. The total personal and real property tax requirement for the coming year is $73,122.95. Last year it was $68,187.08.

The fire district budget hearing will take place on Tuesday, Sep. 10, at 7 p.m. at the fire hall meeting room.

City of Osmond

The proposed budget for the city of Osmond non-bond fund is $2,756,400. Last year, the figure was $1,591,000. The major difference is to cover the proposed street improvements on Hill, Fifth, State and Main streets. The non-bond property tax requirement for 2013-14 is $132,000. Last year the amount was $128,150. The bond retirement property tax requirement is $112,300. That number last year was $105,000. The proposed total property tax request if $244,300 while last year the figure was $233,150. The proposed tax rate for the ensuing year is $0.832687. Last year the figure was $0.81684.

The city budget hearing will take place on Monday, Sep. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the city office.
