Services held for Clara Gutz, 102

OSMOND — Services for Clara Gutz, 102, of Osmond were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond with Rev. Glen Emery officiating. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Organist Lori Koehler accompanied the congregational hymns “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “How Great Thou Art” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Pallbearers were Martin Clausen, Richard Clausen, Douglas Koehler, Leon Koehler, Wayne Koehler, Aaron Gutz, Jeffrey Gutz, Marvin Gutz, Michael Gutz, Ryan Gutz, Scott Gutz, Travis Gutz, Paul Von Rentzell and Jonathan Von Rentzell.
Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Stonacek Memorial Chapel of Osmond was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gutz died Monday, April 24, 2017, at Osmond General Care Center.
Clara Lois was born March 20, 1915, to Hugo and Wilhelmine (Luellman) Gnewuch near rural Bloomfield, MT. She was baptized Nov 8, 1915, by Rev Martin Rockwell.  When four years old, she moved with her parents to a farm near St. John, ND. In 1923, she moved with her parents to Bloomfield, NE. She attended First Trinity Lutheran School for three years and Bloomfield High School through the 11th grade. She was confirmed April 13, 1930, at First Trinity Lutheran Church. On June 9, 1935, she married Martin A. Gutz at First Trinithy Lutheran Church in Bloomfield.  For 36 years, they resided on a farm southwest of Osmond.  In 1971, she moved with her husband to a new home in Osmond. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  She enjoyed quilting, reading and writing.  She was a stay-at-home spouse and mother.  Martin died on April 24, 1995.
She is survived by her children: Byron (Carleen) Gutz, Lois Koehler, James Gutz and Philip (Debra) Gutz of Osmond, Grace (Rev. Marion) Von Rentzell of Grand Island, Conrad (Emmelyn) Gutz of Plainview and Vivian Lackas and daughter-in-law Glenna Gutz of Norfolk; 33 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Albert Gutz and Arnold (Maxine) Gutz and many nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her parents; daughter Virginia Beth; son David; three grandchildren, Lynette Gutz, Joshua Gutz and Kimberly Stelling; three great-grandchildren, Abigail Spiehs, Riley Kolterman and Courtney Koehler; brother Norman (Mildred) Gnewuch; sister Charlotte (Pat) Hirsh and two infant sisters, Cora and Mary; sons-in-law Ronald Koehler and Steve Lackas; brothers- and sisters-in-law Herbert (Leora) Gutz, Hilda (Nels) Jensen, Helen (Everett) Gansebom, Richard (Geneva) Gutz, Laverna Gutz and Lydia (Kenneth) Peters.
In lieu of flowers, Clara’s family requests memorial be given to Orphan Grain Train, Mission Central, the Lutheran Hour and the Tim Beckendorf ministry at LBT. Online condolence may be sent to
