Principal Michael Brown hands in resignation

OSMOND — A number of Osmond residents were in attendance at the Monday, Feb. 13, meeting of the District 42R Board of Education. Among them were members of the Osmond High School girls’ basketball team who expressed their support for their coach, Principal Mike Brown, who has handed in his resignation after six years at Osmond Community School.
Later in the meeting, Brown addressed the crowd and thanked his supporters, adding many of them have a special place in his heart, and he will keep in touch.
He then addressed the board, reading an e-mail from Karen Haase of KSB, the school’s legal counsel. According to the e-mail, an offer was extended to Mr. Brown.  Brown asked if the board would stand behind that offer. While board members did not comment, Board President Michelle Reikofski stated she would like to take a look at the attorney’s letter. She then thanked Brown for his six years of service to the district and wished him well, before the board went into executive session to discuss the matter. Superintendent Dave Hamm later stated, after conferring with the district’s legal counsel, it was confirmed that a severance offer was made to, but never accepted by, Mr. Brown.
