Q125 steering committee named

A brain storming session for Osmond Q125 planning was held on Thursday, May 2, at the Osmond Legion hall. Some 29 individuals attended to share thoughts on the forthcoming event. The dates of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 26, 27 and 28, 2015, have been set for the celebration.

The group reviewed events from the centennial observance held in 1990 and the diamond jubilee in 1965. Some research into a dance band for the evening of June 27 had been done. Melissa Lind was authorized to pursue booking a band.

Volunteers were sought to serve as a steering committee. Named to the committee were Dr. David Johnson, Dwaine Hoffman, Robbie Gansebom, Loren Hansen and Rev. Kevin Burkhardt. That group will meet and determine other committees to be formed and officers to be named.

Building a float to  promote the Q125 celebration was discussed. Other suggested activities for the observance were a style show, reprinting the centennial cookbook and updating the town’s history book. A carnival has been tentatively booked for the celebration.
