OHS seniors to receive diplomas on Saturday

Come Saturday, May 11, 26 young persons will begin a new chapter in their lives. Commencement ceremonies, signifying their graduation from Osmond High School, will be held that day. Activities will take place at 2 p.m. in the school gym.

Honor Students Named

The four top-ranking seniors will present speeches during the ceremonies. In addition, the next two highest-ranking students will deliver the welcome and farewell for the program. Introducing the speakers will be Principal Michael Brown.

Valedictorian of the Class of 2013 is Laurel Krohn. She is the daughter of Larry and Linda Krohn. The salutatorian this year is Matthew Blunck. His parents are Roger and Patricia Blunck.

Ranking third is Alison Schmit, daughter of John and Carol Schmit. The fourth-ranking senior is Daniel Wiese. He is the son of Ronda Wiese and Mark and Jill Wiese.

Ranking fifth is Morgan Brummels who will deliver the welcome. Her parents are Rod and Jane Brummels. Sixth-ranking is Paige Schuettler, who will give the farewell. She is the daughter of Kent and Deb Schuettler.

The Program

The processional for the ceremonies will be played by the Osmond High School band, directed by Jerrold Heide. In addition to addresses by members of the senior class, the program includes presentation of American Legion Post 326 Awards by Commander Michael Stanosheck, presentation of scholarships by OHS Guidance Counselor Jerrold Heide, retiring staff recognition by Principal Brown and Board of Education Vice President Mark Moes and a musical selection by the concert band.

Presenting the Class of 2013 will be Principal Brown after which diplomas will be awarded by Mark Moes. The recessional will be presented by members of the graduating class.

Juniors Take Part

Serving as escorts are juniors Chelsea Wiese and Blake Brummels. Distributing programs and serving as ushers are members of the junior class.

Senior Selections

The motto chosen by the Class of 2013 is “The difference between school and life? In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson.” The class flower is the orange daisy while the chosen colors are orange, black and white. The class sponsor is Randy Jochum.
