Services held for Duane Haselhorst

GLENDALE,  AZ — Services for Duane Haselhorst, 86, of Glendale, AZ, were held Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at St. James Roman Catholic Parish.  His brother-in-law, Father Richard Delahunty, officiated. The burial was at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix with full Naval honors.
Duane Frank, son of Frank and Emma (Bessmer) Haselhorst, was born July 12, 1930, at Burke, SD. From there, he moved to Osmond with his parents and siblings. He attended St. Mary’s school. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. Duane met his wife, Mary Delahunty of Ireland, while he was in San Diego. They had three sons while living there. In 1994, Duane and Mary moved to Arkansas, where they lived until 2013, when they moved to Glendale to be close to their son, Gary, and family.
Duane is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; sons Frank, Liam (Teri) and Gary (Linda); grandchildren Cheryl, Sarah, Shea, Ryann, Keli, Justin, Christopher, Nicole and Amy, four great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Dolores Haselhorst of Osmond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gilbert and Lawrence and sisters Dorothy and Irene.
