Lady Tigers drop two in Wausa Post-holiday Tourney

WAUSA—The Osmond Lady Tigers girls’ basketball team fell to the Ewing Tigers 57-40 on Friday, Jan. 6, and then lost to the Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars 47-39 on Saturday, Jan. 7, as part of the Wausa Post-holiday Tournament.
While they had chances to win both games, the Lady Tigers were disrupted at different points versus both teams and were not able to recover.
Ewing 57, Osmond 40
In the Ewing contest, Osmond jumped out to a 13-9 lead and, despite a slow second quarter, held an 18-16 advantage going into half-time.
“We came out and played a very good first half,” Coach Michael Brown said. “But (we) went flat in the second half.”
Ewing played remarkably well in the second half as they outscored Osmond 41-22. They started hitting perimeter shots midway through the third quarter. Ewing hit 22 shots and were a solid 40% shooting on the night. Overall it was Osmond’s shooting that was troublesome for them. They hit 11-of-44 shots (25%), while shooting 17-for-30 (57%) from the free-throw line.
