Cole Moes signs with Morningside College

OSMOND — On Thursday, Jan. 19, Cole Moes officially signed with Morningside College and will be a member of the Mustang basketball program.

“I’m incredibly proud of Cole and the opportunity he created for himself through hard work and dedication to the sport,” commented head coach Todd Schulze. “I’ve known Cole for close to five years and since I’ve known him he has demonstrated a pure passion for the game and competitive spirit that will be welcomed at Morningside.

“Cole has put in extra time and effort throughout the last three summers to improve his game. At the end of his freshman year, he played for our area Nebraska Bison team, coached by Ponca’s Adam Poulosky. During the summer after his sophomore season, he trained and played for former Tiger Brian Hoffman at Hoffman Hoops Academy in Omaha. Finally, at the conclusion of his junior season, he joined the Norfolk Area D League basketball program, where he was coached by Tim Buettner, along with Osmond alumnus and former Mustang himself, Mitchell Schultze.

“There were a few reasons Cole chose Morningside over other colleges. First, he is excited about the quality of their agronomy program, which will be his major while attending college. He also enjoys the style of basketball that is coached and played at Morningside, believing it fits his skill set nicely. In addition, Cole is comforted to know he will remain close to plenty of friends and family, still hoping to help his dad, Mark, on the family farm. Cole will leave the Osmond basketball program with more than 800 career points, 300 career rebounds and 100 career assists if he continues to perform the way he has during his senior campaign.

“Cole has been a major part of our success during the last few seasons and I thank him greatly for that. I wish him the best of luck as he has his sights set on being a vital piece to the success of the Morningside Mustangs!” Coach Schulze concluded.

Cole is a senior at Osmond High School. He is the son of Mark and Amy Moes.
