City council covers variety of topics at meeting

OSMOND — In the absence of Mayor James Bessmer, the Monday, Oct. 9, meeting of the Osmond City Council was conducted by President of the Council Missy Hoppe.
City treasurer Cindy Hoffman advised that the City of Osmond has been asked to participate in the update of local addresses before the 2020 census. Paperwork has already been received. Hoffman reported the estimated time needed to comply with the census requirements would be more than 21 hours. She thought the city should participate but wanted council approval before spending time on it. Council agreed it would be in the city’s best interest to complete the census update.
American Legion Post 326 Commander Ed Clayton advised it has been a time-consuming chore to get a liquor license for the American Legion, but it is almost completed. He said as far as he knows, there has been no opposition at all and requested the City of Osmond give its approval. The council approved a Class l liquor license for American Legion Post 326.
