Boys are runners-up in Hartington, Wausa meets

The Osmond High School girls’ and boys’ track teams competed in two meets during the past week. The first was at Hartington and the second was the Wausa invitational held at Pierce.
HARTINGTON — On Tuesday, April 11, the Osmond Tiger track teams traveled to Hartington for the Wildcat invitational. The boys needed the last event to move into second place and secure the runner-up plaque. Osmond won the 1,600-meter relay, adding 10 points to its score and passing the host Wildcats, but unable to catch Stanton. The Mustangs scored 122, Tigers 98 and Wildcats 94.
Running the relay were Curtis Kralicek, Brock Johnson, Anthony Heiman and Brett Simmons and their time was 3:43.72, fully automatic timing. Brett also won the 400 meters in a time of 53.87, just edging out Bohac of Stanton. Cole Moes earned the Tigers’ other gold medal in the 110 high hurdles. His time was 16.36. He was followed closely by teammate Kralicek in a time of 16.76. Curtis also took second place in the 300 hurdles in a time of 43.97, and Cole was fourth at 45.08. Heiman collected a silver medal in the 800 meters in a season’s best time of 2:11.04. The 3,200-meter relay team also finished in second place in a time of 9:36.10. Team members were Jared Bessmer, Heiman, Alex Palu and Joshua Gansebom.
