Blood collected here short of goal

OSMOND — Donations of blood at the Wednesday, Jan. 11, visit of the Red Cross bloodmobile in Osmond did not reach the goal, possibly because of the frigid weather — temperatures were in the teens on Wednesday. With whole blood units, power red units and deferrals, the total blood collected was 43 units, 21 units less than the goal of 64.
The bloodmobile was set up at the Osmond city auditorium from noon to 6 p.m. Coordinating the arrangements were Betti Moritz, Marcia Gansebom, Candy Fritz and Sandy Jones.
Among those assisting were:
Physician on call — Osmond Medical Clinic and Osmond General Hospital.
Canteen, escort and kitchen helpers — Sue Wingert, Karla Rice and Linda Jochum.
Loaders — Kyle Hilpipre, Trenton Sinkler and Kenny Boos.
Food was provided by Osmond General Hospital.
