42R board approves bus purchase

OSMOND — The District 42R School Board dealt with a light agenda on Monday, Dec. 12. One of those agenda items dealt with approval of the purchase of a new bus for the district. School board members Paul Koehler and Ed Brummels, who are also members of the transportation committee, shared information on a bid from Cornhusker International on a 2018 59-passenger bus. After discussion, the board approved purchase of the bus in the amount of $80,650.

Principal Mike Brown began by commending the Unified Bowling team on its successful season. Members of the team were recognized at the recent Meet the Teams Rally. School will be dismissed at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, for the Christmas holiday, Brown said, and will resume Jan. 5. School administration will provide lunch for staff members during the noon hour on Dec. 21 as a holiday appreciation, he added. Brown advised that there will be a five-day moratorium with no access to the school gym from Dec. 23 to 27. Mr. Brown commended the one-act play sponsor and students for a successful season, as well as Ryan and Christalin Ginn and the elementary students for the great job they did at the operetta. Upcoming activities listed include: Dec. 13, high school basketball at Creighton; Dec. 15, junior-senior high Christmas concert at 7 p.m.; Dec. 16, FFA Christmas party; Dec. 17, Osmond wrestling invitational; Dec. 20, high school basketball at Wakefield; Dec. 28-29, high school basketball tournament at Verdigre.
