Program helps connect area residents to the world of books

LAUREL — Linda Morris has a passion for reading.
She can’t help but share that passion.

Marge Rastede checks over the books Linda Morris brought her from the Library.

Morris, a member of the Laurel Learning Center Library Board, came up with the program idea “Books on Wheels,” to help patrons who may not have the ability to make it to the Community Learning Center on their own.
She saw a need to make sure residents of Hillcrest Care Center, Hillcrest Assisted Living, and home-bound folks in the city limits would be able to enjoy all the books the local libary has to offer.
She fills this need by picking up books from the Learning Center and delivering them to area residents who are unable to get to the Learning Center.
