LCC students are selected for Boys, Girls State

LAUREL — Four local teens have been selected to embark on a journey to the University of Nebraska June 4 to participate in Cornhusker Boys and Girls State.
Local Laurel-Concord-Coleridge students selected were selected by their local American Legion Post or Auxiliary.
Emily Soll, was selected by Coleridge American Legion Auxiliary #114. Her activities include: president of Pearl Creek 4-H, Junior Leader, County Council, camp counselor, FFA, Science Club, Spanish Club, St. Michaels Catholic Church and many community service projects.  Emily stated, “I am very honored and excited to attend Girls State in June.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for me.”
McKenzie Ohlrich, Belden, was selected by Brunswick Verner A. Baird Unit #357. Her activities include: basketball, volleyball, one act plays, band, FBLA, FCCLA, Spanish Club, dance squad and wrestling manager “stat girl”.  McKenzie said, “I’m honored to represent them and grateful for the opportunity.”

Madysyn Holloway was selected by Laurel American Legion Auxiliary #54. Her activities include: FBLA, one act plays, volleyball, track, band, Science Club, Art Club, president of the Spanish Club, student council officer, and National Honor Society. “I’m excited and honored to represent Laurel at Girls State and I’m ready for an amazing experience, “expressed Madysyn.
Zachary Dietrich was selected by Laurel American Legion Post #54. His activities include: football, wrestling, golf, One Acts, FBLA, Science Club, Math Club, Quiz Bowl, Jump Club, Art Club, Axiom and 4-H.  Zachary said, “I’m honored to be accepted to Boys State.  I would like to thank the Legion for choosing me and am excited for this opportunity.  I hope to learn a lot about how our state government operates.”
Alternates for Laurel were Aurora Urwiler and Charlie Stanley.
