LCC graduation set for May 11

LAUREL — Graduation ceremonies will be held May 11 for 28 Laurel-Concord students and five Coleridge students.

The event will be held in the new gym at Laurel, beginning at 2 p.m.

The senior from each school that ranks third in their class will give the welcome at the graduation ceremony.

The Laurel-Concord valedictorian and salutatorian and the Coleridge valedictorian and salutatorian will each present a five minute speech.

The valedictorians from the two schools took part in Best of the Class  May 1 at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

The ”Best of the Class” began back in 1983 to recognize and encourage academic excellence. Since then, the program has grown and expanded into the Tri-state area. Today, 105 valedictorians representing schools from South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa participate.

The program is designed to honor academic excellence and salute those who have achieved it.

The video commercials that feature all the students will begin airing on Channel 9 KCAU-TV 9.1 and also on Live Well Network channel 9.2 beginning around May 13.

Selected from Laurel-Concord-Coleridge High School are Katie Gubbels and Hannah Burbach,
