Laurel to host Bicycle Ride Across Neb.

LAUREL —  Bicycle riders will be coming into Laurel next summer.

The event could include close to 600 people with bicycle riders, support crew, friends and family.

Laurel has been selected as one of the hospitality host cities for the Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) according to Luke Virgil, Economic Development Coordinator.

“We are very privileged to be one of the BRAN hosts. The school will allow them to use the practice field and the shower room,” Virgil said. “This will require a huge community effort. Several groups are willing to help and have already had a meeting.”

The bicycle riders will be staying overnight in Rushville, Cody, Springview, Atkinson, Verdigre, Laurel, Lyons and Waterloo.

The bicyclists will be coming into Laurel on June 12th.

“The group had talked to the Dept. of Roads ahead of time and they knew about the detour on Hwy 20,” Virgil said. “They will be coming from Veridgre, will go through Hartington and come into Laurel from the north side of town on Hwy 15.”
