Harrington works hard to expand Industrial technology

RAYMOND – A Laurel native is helping Raymond Central High School students gain an appreciation for industrial technology.
The district’s board of education recently approved Patrick Harrington’s request to purchase equipment that should make working in the shop more efficient.
The board unanimously gave the green light to a three-year plan that would see the school invest in new ventilation and tools.
Harrington, the school’s Industrial Technology Instructor, said the upgrades were much needed. Right now, there’s little ventilation in Harrington’s shop, he said.
Working long days with all the dust means Harrington and students often leave school with sinuses full of debris. The ventilation upgrade should make the lab a little more bearable.
“It’ll make our job a lot easier,” Harrington said.
New tools will also make the program more enticing, including a new table saw, Harrington said.
