Fire destroys Laurel buildings

LAUREL – An early Thursday morning fire destroyed two downtown Laurel buildings.

The fire was discovered shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday in the former First National Bank Building, which was being used as an office by Laurel Bio Composite.

Fire fighters from Laurel, Coleridge, Wayne, Dixon and Concord were called in to battle the blaze, which destroyed the three-story BioComposite building on the corner of Second Street and Oak Street in downtown Laurel.

The Thrivent Financial Services Building located directly the south of the Bio Composite building was also totally destroyed by the blaze.
