One year later — city is happy with law enforcement contract

HARTINGTON — Cedar County Sheriff Larry Koranda presented the city with a department report for October and the last year.

The city reviewed the reports and talked about them briefly with Koranda. The department was then commended for all their hard work.

“I’d say, all in all, we’re pretty pleased with how it’s been going,” said Council member Cody Christensen.

An inter-local agreement signed by the city and county providing 24-7 protection for the town went into affect Oct. 1, 2012.

According to the contract, the city is helping pay for the cost of one administrator and two full-time deputies.

The cost of these services for the first year is $144,166.25. The cost will increase to $147,770.40 the second year and $151,464.66 the third year.
