Frances H. Bockholt

FORDYCE — Frances H. Bockholt, 80, Fordyce, died March 15, 2011, at Avera Sr. James Care Center, Yankton, S.D.
Visitation and a Vigil service were March 17 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton, and continued Friday at church one hour prior to services.
Mass of Christian Burial was March 18 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Constance, with the Rev. David Fulton officiating.
Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Constance.

Pallbearers were Mike Bockholt, John Bockholt, Gene Steffen, Charles Steffen, Jeff Steffen and Alan Steffen.
Frances Helen Bockholt was born Oct. 3, 1930, in West Point, to Ignatius and Anna (Risse) Spenner. She was one of 18 children born to this union. Frances attended elementary school there and married Norbert Gregory “Nubs” Bockholt June 14, 1950, in West Point. Norbert died July 31, 2000, at the age of 73. Frances and Norbert lived and farmed in the Fordyce and Constance area. Frances owned and operated Flowers by Frances for 25 years.
Frances was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Constance, and its Ladies Guild since 1950; Crofton American Legion Auxillary; and the Nebraska Growers Association.
Frances is survived by her five children and their spouses, Tim Bockholt Fordyce; Jennifer Good, Rising City; Judy Bockholt, Fordyce; Ingrid Bockholt, Avondale, Mo.; and Peggy and Trevor Roberts, Olathe, Kan.; two grandchildren, Katelin and Hunter Roberts; three sisters, Sr. Ignatius Anne Spenner, Manitowoc, Wis.; Mathilda and husband, Dr. Elno Zikmund, Omaha; and Dorothy Steffen, Yankton, S.D.; two brothers and wives, Ferdinand and Pauline Spenner, Yankton, S.D., and Bernard and Eva Spenner, Tekamah; and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Spenner, Beemer, and Rita Spenner, West Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters, Theresa (Theodore) Gentrup, Mary (Conrad) Gentrup, Catherine Spenner, Anna (Othmar) Steffen, Sr. Leovogild Spenner, Sr. Johnitta Spenner, Sr. Marie Paula Spenner; and five brothers Joseph (Elizabeth) Spenner, Henry Spenner, Fr. Ignatius Spenner, Fr. Conrad Spenner, Paul (Rita) Spenner,
