NE Neb. Public Health Dept. will have spot at Courthouse once a month

HARTINGTON — Northeast Nebraska Public Health Dept., which serves Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne counties, wants to make residents aware of resources that are available to help keep people healthier.

Peggy Hart, Director of Nursing for Northeast Nebraska Public Health Dept. located in Wayne, met with Cedar County Commissions about steps that are being taken.

“We will be trying to encourage people to have health screenings, which can include mammograms, colon cancer and high blood pressure. We have test kits for colon cancer that they can take home and use,” Hart said. “We want to lower our rates for some of these diseases.”

Hart is in the process of contacting each county in the NE Nebraska Health Dept. District about setting up a location where people can stop and talk to a nurse and have a blood pressure check done.
