Memorial Day programs are announced

HARTINGTON — Area residents will get several opportunities next week to observe Memorial Day services.

The Hartington color guard, AmVets, American Legion and the VFW will  host several services to honor area veterans and their families Monday, May 26.

The day will start with a program at 7 a.m., at the Paragon Cemetery.

At 9 a.m., a program will be held at the cemetery in Fordyce.

The local veterans move to the Cedar County Courthouse for a 9:30 a.m. program. At 10:30 a.m., veterans in the Hartington City Cemetery will be honored. The programs will wind up at St. Michael’s Cemetery, with an  11 a.m. program.

The Wynot veterans will honor their veterans with several programs, as well.

Wynot American Legion Post 31 will conduct ceremonies beginning at 8:30 a.m., at Menominnee.

The Post members will then move to the St. Helena Chapel for a 9 a.m. ceremony and another ceremony will be held at 9:25 a.m., at the St. Helena Public Cemetery. Bow Valley will be the site of a 10 a.m. program.
