McGregor is elected as County Board Chairman

Dave McGregor

HARTINGTON — Cedar County Commissioners Tuesday elected Dave McGregor as their new Cedar County Commission Chairman and Terry Pinkelman as Vice Chairman.

They are trading their roles from 2013 when Pinkelman was chairman and McGregor was vice chairman.

This year will not be the first time McGregor was commission chairman. He also held the role in 2012. This year will also mark the end of McGregor’s second term as a county commissioner.

McGregor said he enjoys the commissioner position and working with people in the county. He plans to file again for another term.

There needs to be someone in the county willing and able to listen to the concerns of county residents, he said.

“That’s all they want is to be heard,” he said.

He joined the County Commission when Marlen Kraemer and Frederick Pinkelman were on the board and the new courthouse was being planned.

“It was an exciting time when I got into it,” McGregor said.

Kraemer and Pinkelman acted as mentors for McGregor. During his first term he spent a lot of time learning about the duties of a commissioner, and now he hopes to pass on what he learned to the newer commissioners, McGregor said.
