HPS Board plans feasability study with Newcastle School Dist.

HARTINGTON — A feasibility study will be conducted to assess the advantages and disadvantages of consolidating some of the services offered by Hartington and Newcastle public schools.

Board members unanimously approved the motion Feb. 18, citing it was a good idea to at least participate in the study in order to make an informed decision.

“It would determine if there would be an opportunity for the districts to share programs or perhaps if that were not the case, then which district, if any, or all the districts would share in a consolidation effort,” said Hartington Public School Supt. Randy Anderson.

The study would be completed by an outside source who would look seriously at the situation, and offer suggestions of what would be best for each school. The study would cost $6,000 total, $3,000 for each school.
