Dreesen will say goodbye after 39 years at Holy Trinity

HARTINGTON — At the end of this month, Holy Trinity Elementary’s “mother,” Adaline Dreesen, will be retiring after 39 years in the school system.

Current teachers and staff members say having Dreesen retire is like losing a member of the family.

“We laughed together, we cried together, just like a family,” said long-time Holy Trinity first grade teacher Rhonda Miller. “We would bounce ideas off each other and help each other through life.”

Dreesen was born and raised on a farm near Constance. She attended country school through eighth grade then spent two years at Crofton High School before finishing at Holy Trinity, graduating in 1950.

While at Holy Trinity High School, Dreesen took the typical classes but also took professional training classes which allowed her to start teaching right after graduation. She taught for a few years.
