Dickes, Moser pick up All State honors

Cedar Catholic senior Dana Dickes finished out her high school basketball career the same way she finished out her high school volleyball career — as an All Stater. Dickes was named this week as a member of the Lincoln Journal Star Second Team All State team. Teammates Tracy Peitz and Katelyn Dickes were named to the All State Honorable Mention Team.

LINCOLN —  A pair of Cedar Catholic seniors are rounding out their high school sports careers in a big way.
Andy Moser, a post player for the state-rated Trojan basketball team earned Second-Team All State honors from the Lincoln Journal Star on Sunday.
Dana Dickes, who played post for the Lady Trojans during their state runner-up team last year and on this year’s Class C2 Third-place team, was also named Second Team All State by the Lincoln newspaper.

Cedar Coach Jason Folkers said Dickes is deserving of all the post-season honors.
“Dana is a great post player with tremendous footwork. She works hard on every play and is very patient. She is smart at getting herself into position when she posts up, and is so strong.  With this year, many teams double and even triple teamed her, yet she still averaged a double-double.”
Dickes was also named an All Stater last Fall for her work with the state runner-up Cedar Catholic volleyball team. She was named to the Omaha World Herald First Team All State Team and the Associated Press First Team All State squad in volleyball, as well.
She was honored as a member of the All State Second Team in volleyball by the Lincoln Journal Star.
Another Cedar post player, Andy Moser, also earned Second Team All State honors from the Lincoln newspaper.
Moser was a great contributor for Cedar, Coach Matt Steffen said.
“Andy Moser has had a great career at Cedar with 831 points, 408 rebounds and 70 blocked shots,” Steffen said. “More than the stats though, Andy provided leadership by example for all the younger players coming up and we appreciate it very much.
