Candlelight Christmas is in the spotlight this week

HARTINGTON — In just a few days, the town of Hartington will be transformed into a winter wonderland.

People from all over the area are expected to gather Friday for the 13th annual Candlelight Christmas celebration — a night filled with festivities, friends, fun and of course, food.

Most of the businesses downtown will be open so people can stop in and take a look around while enjoying a hot beverage and sweet snack.

Plenty of other food and dining options will be available at places like the bowling alley and Knights of Columbus Hall, where a soup supper benefit for Julie Kastrup will be held.

Stop in the city auditorium and sip on some tasty wines while checking out homemade items made by local woodcarvers.

Many favorites are returning to the celebration, too. A petting zoo will be set up next to the Cedar County News.

Live Christmas scenes will be displayed in the business windows, too. And, make sure to visit Santa at the Senior Center.

Two new businesses were added to the festivities this year. Cobblestone Inn & Suites is having a kids crafts corner and hot chocolate all day. Peaceful Serenity Massage & Bodyworks, located behind Reps, will have an open house from 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
