Best teams in state to invade Felber Field

HARTINGTON — Past State champions and long-time State Tournament contenders will dual here this week and early next week.
Hartington hosts the American Legion Junior Area Tournament beginning Thursday at Felber Field. The title game is slated for Tuesday July 19 at 5 p.m.
Hartington enters the tourney as the top seed. Hartington’s American Legion Post 4 team is looking to make its second straight trip to the state tournament.

West Point enters the tourney as the second seed.

Another team from last year’s state tourney, defending District champion Pender, is the third seed in this year’s double-elimination event.
The tourney will open with a 12 noon game between West Point and Wisner-Pilger-Beemer. Pender and Battle Creek will then square off at 2:30 p.m. Stanton and Ponca will play in the 5 p.m. game, while Hartington and Wakefield will hit the field in the Thursday nightcap.
The first-round losers will play Friday during the day, while the first-round winners square off Friday night.

Friday’s winners will then get Saturday off and will play Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s Class C State Tournament will be played in Hershey.
