Veterans to be honored with Memorial Day programs

COLERIDGE — An “avenue of flags” along the street by the Community Building in Coleridge will soon be in place to honor veterans.
Members of the Coleridge American Legion Carl Korff Post, the Auxiliary members and other volunteers will be putting the flags in place on Saturday, according to Elroy Hefner, who has been a member of the American Legion for over 70 years.
Approximately 60 flags will be on display.
“This year we will have three new flags,” Hefner said. “The flags are in honor of veterans who have died. Family members can provide a flag that will be put on display.”
American flags in the downtown area will be placed by members of the Coleridge Community Club.
Visits will be made to the four Coleridge area cemeteries Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.
At each cemetery, a speaker will say a few words about Memorial Day and a prayer will be given
