Spanning the Generations

Color Squad.DSC_0529

Memorial Day weekend is a time to unite folks of all ages in the traditions of honoring those who have served, those who currently serve and those who may someday serve. Ryleigh and Max Hanson, children of Nick and Rachel (Papenhausen) Hanson participated in the decoration of veterans’ graves at the Coleridge cemeteries on Memorial Day. As has long been a tradition in Coleridge, several

descendants of veterans and additional volunteers helped to adorn veterans’ graves with poppie-decorated crosses. The Color Guard of the local American Legion Carl Korff Post #114, including Duane Heithold (l-r), Mert Hahne, Roger Jorgensen (partially hidden), Earl Hansen, Wayne Kurtzhals, Virgil Bayne, Paul Wemhoff, Mike Heithold (partially hidden), Dennis Heitman, Rodney Hansen, Claude Hofeldt, Bob Hansen, Dean Wilkerson and Mike Olsen, provided the 21-gun salute at the four local cemeteries. For more pictures from the weekend’s remembrances, please see page 7.
