New LCC budget is adopted

LAUREL — The 2017 tax property request and tax rate are going up for the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School.
A decrease in valuation for the LCC School District this year does play a part in the increase in the levy, although the 2017 property tax request is up by approximately $397,470 when compared to last year’s property tax request.
The 2017 tax request is right at $6,610,870 while last year’s request was at $6,213,400.
Increases in salaries and a raise in normal operational costs affected the property tax request according to Supt. Randall Klooz. The cost for an improvement project at the school and the purchase of a school bus were part of the budget.
“We will also be updating the security alarm system throughout the school building in Laurel and one bus will be purchased,” Klooz said.
